6 Simple Tricks to Help Your Bar Soap Last Longer
Urgh… I just hate when I pick up a bar of soap and half of it falls off in my hand! It feels like such a waste, and honestly, it used to make me never want to use bar soap again! At least, that’s what I thought before I figured out a few little secrets to make my bar soap actually last longer than a week!
1. Let Your Soap Dry Between Uses
This first one is the BIGGEST secret, honestly, and it’s super simple… let your soap dry between uses!
A wet bar of soap dissolves the fastest, so the easiest way to help your soap last longer is to use some sort of draining soap dish with slits or holes. This helps the water drain away and lets air get to the bottom of the bar too.
Trust us — this little change makes a huge difference!
2. Keep It Out of Direct Shower Spray
This next tip is especially great for those of you who keep your soap in the shower: keep your bar out of the direct water spray!
Yes, I know… it sounds so obvious once you say it out loud, but it honestly took us a while to figure this one out too haha.
We actually have one customer who found a little hanging soap bag that hooks on the opposite side of the shower, and she says it works amazingly!
3. Cut Your Bars in Half
Another great trick (especially for those of us with little hands trying to hold onto slippery soap) is to cut your bars in half.
Yes, even our bars that are already cut can be cut again!
This helps make the soap easier to hold so it’s not slipping and sliding everywhere, but it also helps the bar dry faster between uses — which means it lasts longer too.
4. Use a Cloth or Soap Saver Bag
For our shower users, you can also wrap your soap in a washcloth or soap saver bag to help create extra lather. This helps you use less soap while still getting all those bubbly suds!
Just don’t forget to move it out of the direct shower spray once you’re done using it.
5. Rotate Between a Few Bars
Now this one makes life a little more fun too…
Have a few bars of soap on rotation! Two or three bars is usually perfect.
At the beginning or end of the day, switch out your current bar for a different one. This gives the first bar time to fully dry out before you use it again.
Plus… you get a different scent experience every day, which honestly just makes showers and hand washing way more fun.
6. Store Unused Soap Properly
This last tip isn’t even for bars that are already in use!
Believe it or not, there are even ways to help your soap last longer before it ever gets wet.
Store unused bars in an open, cool, dry place instead of a sealed container. This allows the soap to continue to “cure” or dry out a little more, creating a harder, sturdier bar for you to use later.
Try these tricks and see if they help! We’d love to know if they make you fall a little more in love with bar soap too.
